A mix of comedy sketches and spoken word with songs brought to you by two middle-aged women who really should know better

Arancini consists of Helen Rice and Sarah Carratt who are both experienced writers/performers.  Helen performs under the name Helen Rice is Showing Off and mixes music and words to explore the important things in life, like grief, sex and bread. She writes quirky songs and poems exploring a broad range of themes and reflecting on her experiences as a middle-aged disabled woman who likes bread a bit too much.  She plays accordion, keyboard and guitar in her own ‘unique, lo-fi style’. In the last year, she has been a support act for Tom Wrigglesworth, Andrew Bird and Nathan Caton with a forthcoming support slot planned with Jo Enright. Helen co-wrote, co-produced and co-starred in Sheffield’s legendary Fish Pie Cabaret, performing at numerous venues including Theatre Deli Sheffield, The Lantern Theatre Sheffield and Square Chapel Halifax.  Examples of her output can be found on her website at helenriceisshowingoff.com

Sarah is a founder member of the comedy sketch group I’ll Have What She’s Having.  They formed in 2017 with the aim of creating opportunities for older female actors and writers.  Since then, the group have performed at various venues across Sheffield and Derbyshire, including three consecutive years at the Buxton Fringe.  As a writer, Sarah has had her work performed at the Crucible Studio, Sheffield; Chesterfield’s Pomegranate Theatre; the Studio at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre; the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarbrough and on BBC Radio Sheffield.
