The Remarkable Women of Dronfield celebrates four women who made a difference to Dronfield and further afield

Andrew Turner, curator; “Overhearing a conversation about International Women’s Day in the Library in late spring of 2024, gave me the inspiration to create this piece of work to celebrate and commemorate the lives of four remarkable women who lived in Dronfield. Starting with a blank sheet of paper, I researched records from many different sources including Dronfield Heritage Trust documents and photographs, BMD and Census records, newspaper reports, books, museums and oral testimonies from living relatives of some of the women featured. I was able to develop the lifestories of the women for you to be able to learn about today, so we can remember them, and the contribution of many women past and present, to the way we live our lives today”

The exhibition will be available daily at the Dronfield Library
