Don’t forget, it is our inaugural Medieval Festival this weekend at the Barn. We’ve got plenty of demonstrations, activities and games, food stalls and displays planned, and here is just a taster of what’s on: At the front of the Barn is where Hawks of Steele will be located. Come and see their spectacular birds of prey up close!
Meanwhile, upstairs, we’ll have numerous stall holders. Regulars from our stained glass workshops will be exhibiting their work, while the likes of Danum Slate, Elizabeth May Jewelsand Quirky Metals will also be selling their wonderful creations. The Hallamshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers will also be here, but only on the Saturday. Look out too for Knights in Battle’s 15th Century Steward!
In the courtyard is where The Golden Grail Tavern and Hedgerow Preserving Company will be set up. Quench your thirst and sample delicious jellies, chutneys, marmalades, jams and pickles. Our Dine at the Barn team will also be on hand with a delicious hog roast.
Meanwhile, Art Through Textiles will continue to exhibit their work in the courtyard room throughout the weekend.
Finally, in the gardens, we will have some of our very own garden volunteers selling plants to raise funds for continued development of the area. Talk to them to find out all about the progress that has been made in recent months. There will also be plenty to do for younger visitors here, where we’ll be running children’s activities and The Pixie Tribe will be face painting. Glistening glitter, dragon scales and jewels available upon request! Knights in Battle and wood turner, Robert Nicholson, will also be doing their demonstrations in the gardens, and make sure you take a look at Trinity Court Potteries’ display as well.
