We are pleased to announce that we have two new books on sale at the barn, and both make for ideal Christmas gifts.
Local author Jane Marson has published a book on the history of the village of Unstone. Entitled On the Doorstep and Beyond the Gate, the book is full of eclectic photographs, anecdotes and maps.
“It is often the everyday, mundane things which are forgotten in history books,” Jane explains. “This book offers a unique collection of memories, anecdotes and images about how life in a Derbyshire village ‘On the Doorstep’ was part of the bigger picture of social history ‘Beyond the Gate’.”
We only have a limited number of Jane’s books on sale, and they are going fast – so be sure to call into the barn today to pick up a copy. To learn more about the author, click here to visit her newly launched website.
Additionally, a book by social historian and barn trustee Maureen Taylor is also on sale. “Life Goes On” details the life of Lady Alice Deincourt and her story. Lady Alice was great aunt to Richard III and descended from the two most powerful families in the north of England. She was Lady of the Manor when the high status Medieval Hall was built in 1430. Find out much more in this fascinating book, which is on sale for £6.99.
