About the book:
Born at the end of the 1960s, Dave grew up in Dronfield, visiting his grandmother in Sheffield on a weekly basis. He therefore knew the garden and house from where he has lived since the age of 18, from birth. His mother similarly knew the house and garden from birth, and so between them they know the entire history of the garden, which is now summarised in this book. The garden is almost unchanged from how Dave’s grandparents, Frank and Beatrice Dyson, laid it out and many of the original plants remain and flourish. Dave is a Senior Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, having previously taught maths and computing in schools and colleges, and had a short career in retail management in the 1980s and 90s. Dave has opened the garden for the National Gardens Scheme since 2010, and proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the NGS.
