This booklet aim to highlight the importance of the Dronfield Cemetery both for the people of Dronfield and as an important heritage asset

The background research has been conducted by the History Research and Archive group of the Dronfield Heritage Trust and has involved examining the cemetery records held by Dronfield Town Council, who are still responsible for the management of the cemetery, and those housed in the Derbyshire Record Office. The work has involved unpicking the complicated layout of graves, photographing gravestones and developing a searchable database of burials. The cemetery houses the graves of many prominent individuals who played a significant role in the development of the town in the late 19th century but also those of people whose lives are less well-known and our biographical research has focussed on this latter group. Using mainly evidence from contemporary newspapers and the parish magazines we have tried to tell the story of these other lives
